Brownsburg is a well-preserved historic village, established in 1793, and was a bustling business center on the ‘Old Stagecoach road’ between Lexington and Staunton, Virginia. In the early 1800’s there were 20 Houses, 3 General Stores, a School, 2 Shoe Factories, 3 Wheelwrights, 2 Tailors, a Tanyard, a Saddelry, a Cabinet Maker, a Carpenter, a hatter, 2 blacksmith shops, and 2 mills.
