A new North Carolina State Trail which overlays the OVNHT has been funded by the North Carolina Legislature. Taking advantage of this opportunity, a new Friends group for the Overmountain Victory State Trail (OVNCST) has been established to recognize the importance of the OVNHT as well as to help bring greater attention to the historical importance, the economic possibilities, and the health and recreation benefits of that trail in North Carolina.
